Our Products
Tote Bags
The GaelMade tote bags are where it all began. When developing this brand, it was important to me that we started as we meant to go on by choosing the most sustainable materials and processes available to us from the outset.
Because we use sublimation printing, the fabric must contain polyester in order for the ink to properly bond and create a long-lasting design. Rather than using virgin polyester, we made a conscious decision to source recycled polyester instead.
Our tote bags are produced using canvas fabric made from recycled plastic bottles, giving existing materials a second life and helping to reduce demand for newly manufactured synthetic fibres.
Tote bags are already a practical way to reduce day-to-day reliance on single-use plastics but with GaelMade, I wanted to go one step further. Sustainability isn’t just about replacing plastic bags; it’s about making thoughtful material choices at every stage.
To minimise waste even further, all GaelMade tote bags are printed on a made-to-order basis. This ensures we only produce what is needed, reducing excess stock and unnecessary textile waste.
Heritage Beanies
Our Heritage Beanies are designed with longevity at their core. While they are not currently made from recycled fibres, we have intentionally chosen a high-quality, premium acrylic yarn to ensure durability, warmth, and long-term wear.
Each beanie is:
- Knitted in-house, allowing us full control over quality and waste
- Made to order, preventing overproduction and excess stock
- Finished with a woven patch that is hand-stitched individually, adding care and craftsmanship to every piece
By producing in small batches and only when needed, we significantly reduce unnecessary textile waste and avoid surplus inventory.
Looking Forward
As GaelMade grows, we are actively exploring the transition to recycled polyester yarn for future beanie collections. Our aim is to continue improving our material choices while maintaining the quality and durability that define the Heritage range. By hopefully sourcing recycled polyester we are hoping to play our part in reducing ocean waste specifically and find a wonderful new, long-lasting use for each piece.
Sustainability is an ongoing journey, and we are committed to evolving responsibly.
